Discover the latest product release of akenza. This update is packed with new features that make it even simpler and faster to connect, control, and manage IoT devices all in one place.

We're thrilled to announce the latest product release of akenza. This update is packed with new features that make it even simpler and faster to connect, control, and manage IoT devices all in one place.

But that's not all. We've also undergone a brand evolution including a website redesign to better reflect our mission of making IoT more accessible.

The update is available now on all our public cloud plans and will be rolled out to private cloud customers in the next months.

We're excited to share these new features with you. Here's a rundown of what's new in this release:

Build custom dashboards with ease

One of the most significant updates we're introducing is the new dashboard builder, which makes it easy to create custom dashboards to display data the way you want it.

With our intuitive drag-and-drop interface, you can quickly design and customize your dashboard to fit your specific needs. Creating Proof of Concept (PoC) has become quicker by using the built-in dashboard builder instead of external visualization tools.

We prepared several templates to get you started even faster, including asset tracking, smart building, and energy monitoring.

The new Dashboard Builder is designed to give you the power and flexibility you need to make data-driven decisions.

Several visual components can be used:

  • Line & bar chart

  • KPI

  • Map

  • Table

  • Text

New connectivity features

Connectivity is the backbone of any IoT solution. That's why we're excited to expand our connectivity offering, including Swisscom Roaming, integration to IoTCreators, and improved MQTT security.

Swisscom LPN Roaming

Our partnership with Swisscom now provides LoRaWAN coverage in the UK, Ireland, France*, Netherlands, Finland, Spain, Belgium, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway, allowing your devices to roam freely and connect seamlessly across borders. You can now deploy your devices across Europe and enjoy reliable connectivity without worrying about multiple network operators or complex roaming agreements.

*France: support for static use cases only (until Q4 2023)

NB-IoT and LTE Cat. M1 with IoTCreators

Our new collaboration with IoTcreators brings you global roaming for NB-IoT and LTE Cat. M1. This integration adds support to connect cellular devices via UDP, CoAP, and MQTT, making it easier than ever to connect your SIM-based devices to the cloud.

Improved MQTT security

We know that security is a top priority for IoT solutions, which is why we've improved our MQTT security features to include per-device public/private key authentication using JSON Web Tokens.

This means you can now authenticate each device on your network with its own unique set of credentials, adding an extra layer of security to your IoT solution. With our improved MQTT security, you can rest assured that your devices and data are protected against unauthorized access.

Device onboarding assistant

To simplify the device onboarding process, we've developed a new mobile-optimized web app which guides you through the device onboarding process step by step. With the device onboarding assistant, all you have to do is scan a QR code on your device, and the app will guide you through the setup process. This is a great feature that addresses large-scale deployments where the installation is executed by non-technical staff. The intuitive assistant makes it easy to get new devices connected and running in no time.

Gain deeper insights with location data

Finally, we added direct support for the Swisscom LPN positioning service. This feature is perfect for use cases where a rough estimation of the device's current location is needed but without relying on a GPS-enabled device. The location is estimated based on the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) and the Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA).

We've also included a map on the device detail page, so you can immediately see where your device is.

Display the location of your device is on the device overview page

We're also introducing a geo fence rule in our rule engine, which allows you to act depending on the location of your device. You can now create custom rules and actions to be triggered when your sensor enters or leaves a specific area; pretty handy to support asset tracking cases.
